A Garage Sale Photography Collector’s Dream: Finding Negatives Attributed to Ansel Adams! Rick Norsigian is reported to have bought a set of glass negatives at a garage sale some ten plus years ago for $45. He and experts he hired claim that these are images made by the now iconic American photographer, Ansel Adams.
While the the attribution is reportedly disputed by the Ansel Adams Trust, many think these are the real deal.
Oh, who hasn’t dug through a box of photo oldies at a rummage sale, junk second-hand funky store thinking of the great find? Can’t you smell the musty dusty mildewy scent of old negs? Obviously I can. And, I’ll be thinking ‘hmmm, wonder what’s in here?’ and ‘this box looks promising ‘ish !’
Well, these found photos look pretty good whoever made them.
NPR has an article by Elizabeth Blair, and an ‘All Things Considered’ podcast on these photographs and the response to them by the Ansel Adams Trust: Ansel Adams Or Not? The Answer’s Worth Millions
