Optional Plugins for Adobe Photoshop CS6 – Free Downloads

Adobe has finally posted info on the Optional Plug-ins for Photoshop CS6, compatibility of legacy plugins, and related info. We have posted this at Adobe Download Content – Plugins for Photoshop CS6

Photoshop CS6 is now official. As of this writing, the Optional Plugins for CS6 have not been posted on the Adobe Photoshop Optional Plugins Download page. This may change soon. The info below in this post is still useful in regards to the plugins.

The Master Collection Creative Suite 6 + Photoshop CS6 are now officially announced, and are available for pre-orders.

Now that Photoshop CS6 in Beta form is out, some users will be wondering about their Optional Plug-in compatibility and availability.

In recent versions of Photoshop, Adobe has removed some features, but made them available for download and installation separately. These plugins are termed ‘Optional Plugins’ by Adobe. They are sometimes hard to find, especially for older versions of Photoshop. See our Plugin links below.

Photoshop CS6 users will want to know if the CS5 plug-ins are usable for CS6; will CS6 compatible plugins will be available? And, if so, when?

At this time of the Photoshop CS6 beta official release, no Optional Plugins have been announced yet.

One item that will no longer be needed, is the Contact Sheet plugin. This feature has been ‘reincorporated’ into CS6 proper, and so no additional effort is needed to use this favorite feature. See: Photoshop CS6  – Old Feature Plug-in – Contact Sheet ll is Back !

The CS5/CS5.5 Optional Plugins are not authorized for use with the Photoshop CS6 beta, and doing so may cause problems with the beta. Adobe has not yet announced plans for the availability (or even of the need) for these plugins for the final release version of CS6.

This may be troubling to users still relying on the now old school TWAIN plugin, but most users will prefer to run the TWAIN software (such as scanner drivers) outside Photoshop anyway.
