Adobe has posted the free 30 day trial of Photoshop Lightroom 4 for download.

In the lead up to the official announcement of Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe Labs has just released a public beta of Photoshop Lightroom 4, available now for free download.

You will be able to install, and use, the Lightroom 4 beta with an existing installation of Lightroom 3 or Lightroom 2. In fact, you run run Lightroom 4 beta at the same time as Lightroom 3.

Additional details: The final release shipping version of Lightroom 4 will not have Layers, according to Tom Hogarty, Product Manager for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Also, there will be no Windows XP support for Lightroom 4. Multiuser catalogs will also not be supported. You will not be able to control the amount of RAM that Lightroom 4 will use – it will decide for you, and then release that memory. On the plus side, Photoshop Lightroom 4 will have soft proofing. Also, there is a Photobook creation and export module, added support for video, video publishing, and geo-tagging features.

While the Adobe CS6 Creative Suites and Photoshop CS6 haven’t been officially announced yet, here is a chance for you to be up on some of the latest features that Adobe is working on.

The Photoshop Lightroom 4 beta will expire at the end of March 2012, which brings up the question of when will the official release be? Tom Hogarty was basically hinting that the beta expiring would not leave customers hanging, which likely means an announcement for Lightroom 4 ( and CS6 ?) prior to the beta expiring.
