I keep hearing rumors about a dot release Photoshop CS 5.5
any idea when it will be shipping and how much 5.5 will cost?
Photoshop CS5.5 or Creative Suite 5.5 exists to us as a rumor only, at this time. Usually Adobe Photoshop has a roughly 18 month release cycle.
As far as PhotographyUncapped knows, no release or shipping date for CS6, Cs5.5 or whatever, has been announced. The new version won’t likely be announced for many months at least, would be our guess.
when is CS6 coming out?
Nothing has been officially announced. and won’t be till Adobe is good and ready.
CS5 was shipped 10 months ago, and Adobe generally runs an 18 month cycle. so…….
i would like to see some node based workflows such as in a 3d program (maya softimage nuke etc.) that would really open things up.
basically ditching the whole layer structure.
I have heard some buzz, though I can’t remember the reference at the moment, about some new 3-D implementations, but…
I can’t imagine Photoshop “ditching the whole layer structure” thing anytime soon. When layers were first introduced into Photoshop, it opened up such huge area of control and creativity, and has such a vast number of files already created, it seems unlikely that they would abandon this great 2-D structure in favor of the nodes based workflow.
I don’t doubt its value in the 3-D realm, but Photoshop’s user base is still predominantly 2-D, at least for now 🙂
I’d like to see better use of hyperthreading, and multi-core CPUs. Currently all benchmarks show that Photoshop isn’t taking advantage of multi-core CPUs and memory. Rather than more new features that I’ll rarely if ever use, I want PS6 to run my $10K G5 at top speed. Right now it’s money wasted on the hardware if the software can’t keep up.
I can’t wait for CS6. CS4 was good, but I hear great things about CS6
Anything you’ve heard about CS6 should be categorized as ‘rumor’ till the official announcement.
Some previous version of Photoshop rumors have turned out to be true, many have not.
Stay tuned…
